Is there such a thing as a flexible needle?

Let's examine the IV Catheter or "Flexible Medicine Straw"

IV Catherter Infusion Therapy in Flower Mound.jpg
  1. This is a 24-gauge catheter. Notice that there is a needle inside the plastic catheter tube. Your Liberty IV paramedic will choose the best region for the catheter, or medicine straw as we call it in the pediatric units. They will inspect the anterior aspect of the elbow joint where several veins are located just below the surface of the skin. They will also look distal to the elbow where veins present with easy & visible access down to the hands and even fingers.  Your paramedic in Flower Mound will discuss options, learn of past or access, consider the treatment flow rate, and determine the access point based on a visual inspection of the veins.

  2. After the area has been cleaned and disinfected, the needle will be inserted into the vein and retracted through the catheter, and locked safely in the hub where it no longer remains a hazard for an unintentional "stick". This style IV catheter costs a little more than others without this safety system, but we think our clients in Flower Mound Texas & providers are worth every penny of additional safe-practice expense.

  3. Notice this catheter is flexible and hollow. It measures 19 mm long.  Shorter units like this one are used for brief durations like IV hydration therapy. Longer catheters are used in hospitals for patients that will be treated as inpatients or in the trauma unit.

  4. The IV line is connected to the catheter allowing the fluids to be delivered into the bloodstream. A plastic adhesive dressing is applied over this to secure the catheter and stabilize it from movement. Most of the time the most painful part of an IV is removing this sticky tape from the skin as it pulls at the skin and hair. You may also notice when the provider disconnects the IV Safety Hub from the catheter no blood runs back out like you might see when donating blood or at another lab/medical office.  This is because we invest in "flow-blocking" catheters than have a one-time secure valve that doesn't allow flow in or out of the cannulated vein until the safety valve seal is broken with proper threading or the IV Drip Set attachment.  Another safety best practice we insist on providing with our services.

Hospital ER Serving Flower Mound Texas:

If you are experiencing a medical emergency dial 911 because there's no time to hesitate in a medical emergency. Even a brief delay could put a person's health at greater risk. That's why it's important to dial 911 and visit the emergency department. Liberty IV is not an emergency response unit and is not a first responder unit to medical emergencies.

coenzymes, peptides, Vitamins & Trace Minerals: Explore The specific Benefits Each Component Offers Our Body

There are eight essential B vitamins that are important for maintaining good health and preventing deficiencies. These vitamins include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), biotin (B7), folate (B9), and cobalamin (B12). They must be obtained from the diet because the body cannot produce them. B vitamins are water-soluble, which means they dissolve easily in the blood and excess is excreted in the urine. This makes it difficult to overdose on them. In contrast, fat-soluble vitamins like vitamins A, D, E, and K are stored in the body's fat tissue and can accumulate to potentially toxic levels if consumed in excess. B vitamins play a role in various metabolic processes, including carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism. The active forms of these vitamins are necessary for them to function properly in the body. For example, niacin (B3) is important for the production of NAD and NADP, which are used in the production of energy in the form of ATP. B6 (pyridoxine) in the form of PLP plays a role in amino acid metabolism and the synthesis of neurotransmitters. B vitamins can be found in a variety of foods, including meats, dairy products, vegetables, and grains, and are also available in supplement form.
